The world’s first company-site sustainable research certification.
Certify an entire site or institute, not a single lab, and evidence your sustainability credentials to the sector and to potential investors.
What is Green STEM Certification?
We have significant experience designing trusted sustainability certifications. Building on that, we launched the world’s first and only company-site sustainable research certification. The scheme is unique: it doesn’t focus on single laboratories or offices, but on an entire site or institute.
It’s ideal for any size of company aiming to improve its sustainability credentials, and provides a simple means to evidence that to the sector and to potential investors. The certification is site-specific and has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Common questions
What is Green STEM Certification?
Green STEM Certification is a sustainability certification for an entire research site or institute, rather than a single laboratory or office. It assesses sustainable practice across eight key areas and awards one of three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold.
How is it different from certifying a single lab?
Most lab sustainability schemes certify one laboratory at a time. Green STEM Certification is site-specific: it covers a whole site or institute, so the credential reflects your entire operation rather than a single room or team.
What are the certification levels?
There are three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. You can start at Bronze and work towards Gold as your sustainability practice matures.
How does it relate to lab-level sustainability schemes?
It complements lab-level schemes. Those recognise individual teams or laboratories, while Green STEM Certification certifies the whole site, so they work well alongside each other.
How do you get certified?
You complete a guided self-assessment for your site, upload supporting evidence, and submit it for review. Assessors review the submission and can approve it, request changes, or send it back with feedback. On approval you receive a certificate for the level achieved.
